Lifting the Spirit of the Caregiver: Coping with Burnout in Caregiving for Dementia PatientsWednesday, April 13 | 12:00 p.m. — 2:00 p.m. Online Webinar
Clinicians and caregivers treating clients with dementia face a unique set of challenges, often experiencing a great deal of burnout and grief. The many symptoms of burnout can not only affect the wellbeing of clinicians and caregivers, but also the quality of care these professionals and helpers are able to provide to patients. This workshop will help clinicians and caregivers working with dementia patients understand and identify these symptoms, and employ strategies to maintain self-care and uncover joy. These strategies are practical, effective, economical and even fun! Several activities geared towards providing joy and inner peace will be conducted during the session
- Explain the challenges facing clinicians and caregivers in administering long term care to patients with dementia.
- Describe how to quickly assess one's own stress level and the stress level of patients with dementia.
- Discuss the importance of quality time and physical presence when administering care.
- Utilize three strategies for uncovering joy and reducing stress when identified in oneself or in patients with dementia.
